Away Trip to Lymm

Despite numbers being depleted as a result of Half Term holidays, the Under 9's established 2 match day squads to play against a strong Lymm squad who had recently won both the Manchester and Stockport Festivals . Some of the squad had been in the team which had lost to Lymm in the Semi-Finals of the Stockport Festival, but that only acted as a trigger for the boys to realise that they need to put in strong performances.
With coaches Nim, Rob and Dave all away, Richard McCreath was able to provide his experience in looking after a squad which consisted of Max, Sergio, Oli B, Edward, Sam N, Charlie, Will M and Ashwin.
The team saw their confidence grow each game, and by the 3rd fixture of the morning, all the boys were getting to grips with the game. There were some notable performances during the morning, with Edward making some storming runs down the middle of the pitch, with Sam N and Max orchestrating the game at the breakdown.
Neil coached the rest of the squad made up of Sam Y, Joe C, Will C, Ethan, Finn, Alex and Kaya, with numbers as such that we didn't have any subs, making the boys even more determined to play as a team. The 7 boys put in some sterling tackling with Finn, Sam and Ethan leading from example. The pressure around the tackle area helped us secure a number of turnovers during the 3 games. the boys also learned that in addition to using the pace of Finn and Joe on the wings, that we could also make some good ground in the middle of the park with Alex, Sam and Kaya.
All in all the boys played some excellent rugby with the confidence increasing all the time.
