Manchester Vs Stockport 2016/17 series 5

The Manchester U12s have been looking forward to testing themselves against their neighbours since before the fixture was cancelled in mid January.

The teams had already met in the later stages of the Stockport & Manchester festivals and again, in November at Sedbergh where Stockport got the better of Manchester by the odd try in 5 .
Since the trip to Cumbria Manchester’s rugby has improved in many areas.

This was immediately apparent in the first game with Stockport Reds. In a super match Manchester’s skill, teamwork and tenacity shone through. 1st period 2-2, 2nd period 0-2, FT 2-4 to Manchester

Stockport Greens provided a different test in the 2nd game. The fresher Stockport Greens started with a different game plan to their Reds and stormed to a 4-0 half-time lead. It took Manchester time to adjust and that is precisely what they did, demonstrating character and determination, by scoring 3 tries to 1 in the second half
1st period 4-0, 2nd period 1-3, FT 5-3 to Stockport.

Very good sides competed intensely, played excellent rugby and fought-out 2 thrilling games. They all showed great enthusiasm and teamwork. The boys were a credit to the coaches, their parents & themselves - all should be very pleased with their performance. Congratulations to all.
