Mangotsfield "shared the points" at unbeaten Fairford Town this evening. Glyn Ashton was forced to make several changes due to injuries but his team competed well against a strong opposition. The first 15 minutes saw both sides pushing forward in an entertaining match. Despite both sides creating a couple of half chances in the opening exchanges it was "The Field" who had the first real chance of breaking the deadlock after a free kick was swung in from the right but Ball's header was well saved by the hosts keeper. In the 27th minute Ball was once again in the action as he found the back off the net but unfortunately he he had mis timed his run and was adjudged to be off side. In the 37th minute an excellent tackle from Ilea denied the hosts as he intercepted the advances of Fairford striker Lawrence. The spoils were all level at half time with "The Mangos" having had the slightly better possession.
The first half started with a very quick penalty awarded to the hosts in the 46th minute and Shutt converted from the spot. As mangotsfield pressed to get the equalizer the host remained resolute until the 78th minute when Ball got his timing right this time and he beat the offside trap and riffled the ball home.
A well earned point on the road for Mangotsfield saw the field drop a couple of places in the league against one of only five teams not to have lost at this early stage in the proceedings.
With a rest on Saturday the boys are next in action next Wednesday (21st) as they travel to current third placed Highworth Town, who have won 3 and lost 1 game at this stage.
