Mangotsfield lost their opening game against Royal Wotton Bassett in the opening fixture of their new era in the Hellenic League. The hosts had a penalty claim dismissed in the opening fifteen minutes of play, but it was Mangotsfield who almost broke the deadlock in the 27th minute when a deflected shot following some sustained pressure rattled the upright. It was Mangotsfield who were holding their breath just five minutes later when a under hit back pass was intercepted but the shot was sent wide of the goal. just a minute or so later, at the other end of the pitch the keeper was pulled into action to deny Mangotsfield the lead. The half time score remained at 0-0 despite both sides having created some really good chances.
The hosts however broke the deadlock in the 56th minute when the ball broke nicely for them and they punished Mangotsfield on the break. As expected the game opened up for the remaining 30 minutes of the game as Mangotsfield pushed to get back on level terms but despite creating a few chances the score line remained

Mangotsfield are next in action at Cadbury Heath this Saturday in the FA CUP extra Preliminary round, kick of at 3pm.
