Barton Under-Needwood visited the Griff and Coton hoping to book progression to the second round of the coveted competition.
But they fell behind early on to two penalties from the boot of scrum-half Andy Redman.
The hosts raced into a 20 point lead when Aaron Willis added to his hat-trick on the opening day of the league campaign with a typically forceful score before tight head prop Chris Cook burrowed over from close range – both converted by Redman.
Hopes were high of try fest but Barton showed some of the credentials which earned them a top four finish in a division equivalent to Park’s last season.
Into the second-half and attacking up the slope, Barton got themselves on the score sheet after pouncing on a loose pass to touch down against the run of play.
Any momentum this may have garnered was dispelled when head coach Lee Maddison, deputising at fly-half, managed to burst through a gap to touch down for an unimproved score.
Barton again hit back with a lovely score of their own, but once more Park nipped their resurgence in the bud when Michael Kemp went over for a try improved by the boot of substitute Sean Haughey.
Park now await the draw for the second round of the competition, to be played on Saturday, October 13, which could see Park on their travels to the likes of Boston, Skegness or St Ives.
Park have three league games this weekend, with the seconds hosting Harbury II at the Griff and Coton, the firsts on their travels to Coventry Welsh and the thirds visiting Pinley III.
