The 26-year-old Army Corporal based at Bramcote Barracks found his new club with a simple Google search, and Park have never been so grateful for the fruits of an internet search engine.
Two impressive performances for the second team saw his promotion to the first team as they looked to get the new year underway after a disappointing reverse to Pinley last time out.
But it was the home side who opened the scoring as they made a foray into enemy territory and eventually worked an overlap out wide to touch down for an unconverted score.
The try served as a wake up call to the visitors and they were soon on the front foot with fly-half Dan Joyce kicking well to touch and Manor’s line out proving a ruthlessly efficient source of ball.
It was from the base of a scrum where Joyce dummied a pass to centre Joe Reynolds, allowing for the onrushing Jukes to pick a hole and surge through under the posts, Joyce added the conversion.
Welsh regained their lead after their blindside flanker collected his own lineout throw via the jumper to burrow over from close range.
Second-row lynchpin Michael Kemp was substituted after 25 minutes after picking up a shoulder injury allowing Ian Finlay to make his first team league debut.
After ironing out some difficulties in the scrum Park made massive inroads with rolling mauls from lineout possession and it was almost a carbon copy of the first score which allowed Jukes running another scything line to touch down his second try. Joyce nailed the extra two points.
Jukes third saw Park take the ascendancy as Welsh had no answer to his running lines and devastating finishing.
Crucially, each of Manor’s tries were under the posts giving Joyce a comfortable afternoon, but it was his 11 points which separated the sides as eight tries were eventually shared evenly between the teams.
Against the run of play Welsh managed their own third score, closing the gap to 21-17.
The second-half was an open affair with huge chunks of play being played out around half way as neither side could string together a string of telling phases.
Welsh found their counter to Park’s quick ball recycling from the ruck pushing wildly offside, and were also guilty of “sacking” rolling mauls on a frequent basis.
But there was no stopping Simon Tunnicliffe as Adam Jardine, Reynolds and Jukes combined sublimely allowing Tunnicliffe to speed home unopposed for Park’s fourth, bonus point securing try.
Park earned a penalty in the Welsh 22 and Joyce immediately, and confidently pointed to the posts, striking over via the upright to give his side an unassailable 31-17 lead.
It was in the dying minutes when Welsh scored their crucial fourth try which earned them not only a bonus point, but also a losing bonus point after managing to lose within seven points.
The converted try meant the game ended on a sour note for Manor Park, who nevertheless rise to fifth in Midlands 4 West (South) ahead of this weekend’s visit of a trip to Stoke Old Boys on Saturday.
