Coventrians entered the Midlands 4 West South encounter having won all six of their game since earning promotion back to this level last season.
Their surprise surge to the summit of the table has seen them concede only 48 points prior to their mauling at the hands of Manor Park.
With the challenge of local rivals Atherstone ahead this weekend – it was important Park laid down a marker and they managed this with a supreme display from their forward pack before the grateful gathering for the club’s annual Legends Day for past players.
The deadlock was broken when Joe Graham found a gap to cross over, he was followed by Gary Lakin and stand-in kicker Michael Kemp notched over both conversions to push the score to 14-0.
A clean catch and drive from a short range line out saw Matt Marston score and Charlie Wilson touched down from close range to earn Park the bonus point inside the first half.
From a 10 metre scrum against the feed, Park pushed Coventrians over the line for Martston to score his second try.
There was time for Lakin to add a second try of his own before the interval, which went unimproved as the half-time whistle blew with Manor 36-0 to the good.
The second-half inevitably lacked the same intensity as the visitors finally managed to put some phases together and show some glimpses as to why they managed to reach the top of the table.
The substitutes’ bench was used to give other players a run out as Coventrians finally broke the deadlock with a converted try.
But they couldn’t build on the score as a sparking break from inside their own half by Graham finished with prop Chris Goode diving over the line for his fifth try in three games.
The match also marked the return of Tom King to competitive action for the first team.
King, a versatile forward who can play in most positions in the pack, was injured at the end of the 2010/11 season during the 36-0 in over Alcester.
His performances that season saw him claim one of the end of season performance awards but he would sit out all of the following 2011/12 campaign with injury.
It could be a massive boost for the squad, which once again called on the services of Rich Andrews and Ian King to man the wings, while some other senior club "legends" were on the field as Glynn Huskins and Matt Marston anchored the pack.
Gary Lakin's return to a starting position in the first team was a successful one with two tries, while Gaz Bennett's return to the side is proving pivotal.
Another award winner from 2010/11 Lee Joyce made a welcome first team return from his own injury hit period, as Park overcame having first choice hooker Lee Critchlow and tight head Chris Cook unavailable, along with top points scorer Lewis Brightmore, inside centre Michael Clarke, and the injured trio of Simon Tunnicliffe, Jim Aaron and Cameron Forryan.
Not to mention the long term injured players Liam Rose, last season's top points scorer Dan Joyce and current player of the year Sam Haslam.
Park's squad is brimming with players with the ability to step up to first team level, as their season goes from strength to strength, closing the gap on table toppers Old Yards to three points.
