Pope & Smith Chelmsford Sunday League - Report for 8th December 2013

Coward Cup First Round

Heybridge Social beat Ongar United 2-0 to book a place in round two against premier division rivals, Daen Ingas.

Gillott Trophy Second Round

Tulip Springfield and William de Ferrers Reserves played out a 1-1 draw after extra-time. The penalty shoot-out was excellent and full of some great spot-kicks as Tulip edged it 9-8 overall to progress to the next stage of the competition.
Daen Ingas Reserves defeated Woodham Radars Reserves 1-0 in a very tight encounter in a game played in good competitive spirits.

Division One League Cup Second Round

Bromfords Reunion edged out Southminster & Norton 3-2 in an entertaining fixture. Their scorers were Adam Harris, Sam Donn and Tom Sims. Dave Houghton replied twice for the visitors as they bow out.
Woodham Athletic were on top form as they crushed Walnut Tree 5-0. Dan Adams helped himself to a hat-trick as well as the man of the match award with further goals coming from Ben Price and Rich Canty.

Division Three League Cup Second Round

Chelmer Wanderers were made to work hard as they beat Margaretting 4-2 in a strong display from the hosts. Ben Farage, Aaron Redman, Si Green and Colin Anderson were their scorers as Chelmer continue their fantastic form.
Writtle Manor Reserves are through to the final after a comfortable 4-1 win against Old Chelmsfordians Reserves. Their scorers were Martin Mixture (two), Kieran Ahern and Rob Doubleday.

League Premier Division

Broomfield comfortably beat a struggling Baddow Spartak by three goals to nil to move into fifth place. Their scorers were Dave Kingham, Jack Matthews and a Zach Pace penalty.
Daen Ingas stay top of the league after a 2-1 defeat of Infield. Matt Pullen pulled back a late goal with a fantastic volley, similar to David Platt's stunner against Belgium in 1990. Infield continue to improve and will be confident of getting out of relegation after recent displays.
Two goals each from the formidable pair, James Robinson and John Watson were enough to see off Hatfield Swan Inn. It finished 4-0 to Priory Sports who made it six wins from six league games.

League Division One

Little Baddow continue to show signs of inconsistency as they drew 3-3 with a very good Writtle Manor team. This result clearly shows their quality which they fail to achieve on a regular basis which would see them further up the league standings. Billy Ryan, Joe Collins and an own goal earned Manor their point.
William de Ferrers beat Marconi Leisure 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller to stay top of the league. Marconi put in a very good shift and found the net through Chris King, Duncan Childs and an own goal.

League Division Two

Bicknacre defeated Brookhouse 2-1 in a tight match but overall they deserved the points. Sam Sullivan and Lee Nash scored the visitors goals and Gary Payne scored for Brookhouse.
Great Baddow earned a terrific point against Springfield to ease their relegation problems. It finished 3-2 with Springfield's goals coming from Jake Leaks and Kyle Harvey.
PSV Billericay defeated M & G 5-2 as they stay in mid-table. The visitors have just one point from their opening seven games now as they continue to struggle. Paul Turner scored a hat-trick and Rich Banks and Scott Lemon added to the scoring for the hosts.
Old Chelmsfordians secured a great 6-1 win against one of their toughest promotion rivals in Woodham Athletic Reserves. Paul Tiffen (three), Max Johnson, Ryan Baxter and Stu Lockwood secured the vital win for OCs.

League Division Three

Priory Sports Reserves edged out Broomfield Reserves in an entertaining fixture. It finished 2-1 as goals from Aaron Baker gave them a 2-0 lead before Jake Stevens pulled one back. Soon after, Priory's dominance had weakened as Broomfield picked up their display but they lacked quality and endeavour to find a way through.
Howbridge Swifts Reserves and Hanningfield produced the game of the day in an amazing 4-4 draw which neither side deserved to lose. The hosts' goals came from Newlove, Panting, Bush and Yates. Brinkman, Knights, Matheson and King pulled the goals back for Hanningfield after trailing 2-0 and 4-2 during the game.

League Division Four

Blackwater thrashed Marconi Leisure Reserves 9-0 with Connor Seabright helping himself to five goals with Will Mant netting a brace along with a goal from Jake Harvey and an own goal.
Wilvale beat Mannex MR 6-0 in a one-sided affair as they make it 11 wins from 11 games in the league. Dan Rayner, Ollie Evans, two Sam Boddy goals and one from Bradley Parker sealed their victory.
