Marine made a woeful start to the new year with a comprehensive home defeat to an impressive AFC Fylde. However, they have an early opportunity to make amends against a resurgent Whitby Town.

Manager Kevin Lynch admitted that “Fylde are a good team but we didn’t turn up and it hurts to lose in that manner. We cannot keep gifting goals and the players must learn from their mistakes." Lynch added "The lads have worked hard in training and I am looking for a good reaction from them.”

Whitby had a dreadful start to the season losing their opening six matches by a single goal. After rallying in both FA competitions they again slumped in November by losing all four league games. With true Yorkshire grit the Seasiders have managed to turn things around and are looking to make it six games unbeaten at the Arriva today.

Craig Farrell is the danger man with six goals in the last five games including a hat-trick on New Year’s Day against Frickley.

Marine came away with a point in a 1-1 draw at Whitby in September but will need to improve massively upon their performance against Fylde if they are to take all three points today.
