Hyde United 1-2 Marine

Marine continued their impressive start to 2019 with a win away at Hyde United on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues started the game well, with Captain Danny Mitchley capitalising on a defensive error from Hyde to tap the visitors in front. Hyde piled on the pressure in attempt to find an equaliser but solid defensive work from James Short and some impressive saves from on-loan Everton goalkeeper Joe Hilton kept them at bay.

Mitchley and Cummins both had chances to extend the lead on the break as Hyde continued their pressure before half-time, but the hosts got back on level terms ten minutes after the restart after Chib Chilaka's strike evaded Hilton.

The game settled down after the equaliser, but only temporarily as on-loan Blackburn defender Sam Barnes lashed in from inside the Hyde box to put the Mariners back in front.

Hyde had a few more chances through substitute Nicky Platt and John McCombe, but Marine defended their lead arduously to top off an unbeaten January in the League.
