The mariner's rugby club have a long standing tradition of entering the Non-Mariner's race. A race held at mangrove bay which, challenges men and women to create a craft from scratch that can make it across the bay. Points are scored for seaworthiness and for comedic value.
Mariner's rugby club tend to create vessel's that carry a message as well as a crew of drunk rugby players. Last year was no different. Mariner's rugby club created an aeroplane-shaped ‘Cannonair’ — lambasting Mr Cannonier’s ‘Jetgate’ quandary which, was assembled on the beach, complete with propeller and wings.
Wearing a helmet made from a watermelon, Mr Cannonier made an appearance on board the ‘Cannonair’ to spin its propeller.
Cannonair took home all the silverwear that year!
