When is it? Normally we train on Friday nights 6:15-7:15pm with matches on Sundays between 9:30 am and Midday from September to May.
Rugby’s Values:
As a club we have taken the Quilter Kids First pledge to put children first and commit to a range of high quality standards. This is England Rugby’s approach to rugby for 6-13 year olds, which gives children the opportunity to prosper by fostering an environment for having fun, learning and building confidence.
Our coaching philosophy below is based on this:
• Encourage fun on the pitch, through equal opportunity and realistic expectations of our children.
• Provide a safe, healthy, respectful and enjoyable environment for kids.
• Develop children’s confidence and character as players and people.
• Champion rugby’s Core Values: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship
• Positive role models, inspiring a lifelong bond between children, adults and our sport.
It's important for parents to realise that rugby is a late specialist sport therefore at this age we apply a generalist approach to training kids in the sport. We will focus on:
• Fun
• Physical Development - Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed
• Tactical Skills - Use of Space, Running Forward, Support and Continuity
• Technical Skills - Evasion, Ball Handling and Passing, 1v1 situations
WE WELCOME ANY NEW PLAYERS AT ANY STAGE OF THE SEASON to come along and try the sport, for a few weeks without any commitment to join.
Please let us know in advance so we can ensure we are training and we can introduce your child to the coaches and meet you on arrival at the club.
Clothing; please wear boots, sports shirt and shorts, skins are good in the colder months and bring a sports bottle full of water. A gum shield is but recommended.
