A Wrong End Of The Table Clash

Saturday 21st September 2019 will see Frickley Athletic as the visitors to the Greenfields Stadium.

Even this early in the season. in view of the respective League Standings, this game could be the kick- start both teams need to get back on track after very disappointing starts to the season.

Frickley Athletic are no strangers to the Greenfields Stadium from our days when both teams competed in The Evo-Stik First Division South until last season when MDTFC went West and Frickley ventured East.

Please don't mention Season 2017/2018 when we conceded a total of 14 goals in the two fixtures versus Frickley - oops I think I just did - anyway that is football history!!!

Here at MDTFC we have not had the greatest of starts to the Season, which has seen us lose 7 out of the 8 League games played - the sole victory being an 'away' victory at high flying Spalding United on the 24th August.

The 'away' victory at Spalding shows that on our day we can produce the results, which have perhaps been more than hampered by holidays, suspensions, unavailability for whatever reason, work commitments and compounded by, perhaps some would say, a number of rather dubious decisions by the match officials.

Our visitors lost their first 6 League games, after which there was a Managerial change which saw the appointment of the very experienced Dave Frecklington as Manager - Dave has a vast and successful Managerial career and immediately steadied the Frickley ship with a 1-1 draw versus Wisbech.

So all to play for - come on Drayton

Early in the season but here are the League Standings:

  • MDTFC - 19th - Played 8 - 3 Points
  • Frickley Athletic - 20th - Played 7 - 1 Point

Kick Off - 3.00pm

The club licensed bar, within the stadium, will be open before, during and after the game

The catering kiosk will be open before and during the game - what better opportunity to purchase one of Palethorpes Bakery's fantastic pies, perhaps with some cheese and chips!

Football, a pint, a pie plus cheese and chips - what better way is there to spend a Saturday afternoon?
