Chairman Mick Murphy Promises A Root & Branch Review At MDTFC

Saturday 5th October 2019 will see 'new' Manager Martyn Davies again at the helm for our 'Home' game versus Worksop Town FC (Kick Off 3.00pm).

Martyn and his Management Team will be looking to strengthen the team and also stabilise the club's League position following our disastrous start to the season.

I am sure we are all aware of the drive and enthusiasm that Martyn will bring to the club.

Certainly we need to rediscover our shooting boots - not having scored in the last 5 games.

WorksopTown have made a steady start to their season with 12 Points from 10 Games, with 9 of these Points coming from 3 Away victories.

Our 3 points came from a very creditable Away victory at Spalding on the 31st August 2019.

Results earlier this week at the lower end of the League Table have not helped the MDTFC cause with victories for Frickley, Wisbech and Newcastle Town - these results leave us at the foot of the Table 3 points adrift of Glossop North End.

League Standings ahead of Saturday's game are as follows:

  • Worksop Town 10th - Played 10 - 12 Pts
  • MDTFC - 20th - Played 11 - 3PTs

A Root & Branch Review

Off the field MDTFC Chairman Mick Murphy has promised a full 'root and branch' review of the club's whole operation in order to back Manager Martyn Davies and the team.

In Mick's words:

"Starting the season by winning only one of 13 League and Cup games tells it's own story.

When that happens, you cannot accept that it has simply gone wrong on the field, we have also got to ask ourselves questions and look at the broader picture.

We are therefore going to take a hard look at our whole operation - what we do, how we do it ,including our roles from mine as Chairman onwards - everything.

I'm talking 'root and branch' - everyone & everything. This includes me giving way should someone come along with money, commitment, ideas and wants to take this club forward and progress - this is absolutely vital for the club's future, also bearing in mind the proposed relocation to a new sporting facility."

Well certainly some food for thought in Mick's comments -so why not take the opportunity to get involved?

On a lighter note and talking of food - the catering kiosk will be open as normal serving up those famous Palethorpes pies fresh from the bakery - the licensed bar will also be open for your liquid refreshment.
