Monday 3rd October 2022 saw Promotion chasing AFC Wulfrunians as the visitors to the Greenfields Stadium.
The game saw the return of the new Management Team of Richard Brown and Chris Worrall, with Coaches Sam Cartwright and Steve Chamberlain being heavily involved in the team selection and formation.
In the continued absence through injury of Reece Taylor - Brendon Price was Captain
The Wulfrunians coaching team also saw the return of former MDTFC Manager Matt Johnson.
The starting line up saw four changes from the game on Saturday at Tividale plus several positional changes.
Bearing in mind last week's results, which saw us lose 2-0 at Shifnal and then for Shifnal to lose 5-0 versus AFC Wulfrunians, the game had some interesting assumptions.
The game started at a lively pace but was somewhat marred by pushing, shoving and handbags; despite the frequent stoppages of play I think it is fair comment that MDTFC were the better side in the first half and applied constant pressure to the Wulfrunians' defence.
This pressure was rewarded in the 40th minute when the impressive Durell Manhhertz was fouled in the penalty area and Jamie Hands converted the resultant penalty with aplomb.
We had to survive some late pressure in the final 5 minutes of the first half - the first half overran by 8 minutes due to the number of delays cause by injuries and handbags.
Half Time: MDTFC 1 AFC Wulfrunians 0
The second half saw AFC Wulfrunians up their game and became more assertive in their play; despite this pressure we continued to be competitive.
AFC Wulfrunians scored an equalising goal on 52 minutes with a headed goal by Hayden Reeves from a corner by former MDTFC player Jamie Meadows.
At this stage we seemed to lose our way somewhat with Wulfrunians scoring two further goals on 67 & 70 minutes.
This lead was further increased on 83 minutes via a penalty scored by former MDTFC player Jamie Meadows - the penalty having been conceded by GK George Scott.
Credit to MDTFC we didn't give up and on the stroke of full time the ever impressive Durell Manhertz showed great pace in getting into the left hand side of the penalty area and his excellent cross was converted by Rune Corinaldi with a peach of a goal.
MDTFC 2 AFC Wulfrunians 4
MDTFC Man of The Match - Durell Manhertz. who constantly caused problems for the Wulfrunians; defence and midfield.
Some positives from this game for MDTFC particularly based on our first half very competitive display.
WUlfrunians certainly had ro work hard for the three points,
