Saturday 31st August saw MDTFC make the 240 miles round journey for our League encounter with Spalding United; we were of course looking to get back to winning ways and the team did not disappoint.
With Stoke City loanee Ibrahima Decoure injured and Dan Beddows unavailable Manager Steve McCormick and his management team had to reshuffle the midfield; selection options were also compounded by the unavailability of several other key players.
This was the first of several long journeys East we will have to play this season: such journeys will continue to provide selection problems for players that work on Saturday mornings.
The game also saw the debut of 16 years old Rueben Gardner - McIntosh, who joined us earlier in the week on Work Experience from Stoke City.
Rueben got off to a flying start when he scored the decisive goal on 18 minutes, which was created by Ryan McLean.
MDTFC stood firm under pressure to secure a vital 'away win'.
Ryan McLean was awarded the MDTFC Man Of The Match for his outstanding performance.
The 1-0 victory provided our first points of the season after a somewhat frustrating start to the 2019/2020 Season.
The 3 points saw us move into 15th position after 4 games - Frickley and Sutton Coldfield remain rooted to the bottom of the Table with 0 Points
