Tributes are pouring in following the news of the death of club stalwart and legend Jack Morris, who died this morning surrounded by his family.

On behalf of every member, player, guest and visitor who has been inside the club you helped to build, or stepped foot on the pitches you cared for, we thank you most sincerely and our condolences and love go to your family.
- Jon Stamp, MHRUFC Chair

Jack gave a lifetime of service to Kibworth and Market Harborough Rugby Club. He was one of the finest rugby players and a tremendous inspiration to many. Market Harborough Rugby Club has certainly lost it's most loyal servant.

Jack had been an active member of Market Harborough Rugby Club since 1955. (Formerly known as Kibworth) Jack played Rugby at the club as a boy and continued to play Rugby until he was 55. He was first team captain for 10 years and never missed a game. He has since been Club Chairman, President and more recently groundsman. He has been the club’s groundsman for over 25 years looking after the clubs 7 pitches at Northampton Road in all seasons and all weathers.

Jack was the proud winner of the Unsung hero in the Harborough District Sports Awards in 2015 and was also a recipient of the clubs Kibworth Cup – awarded to recognise those who had provided exceptional service to the club. Jack also was also awarded the M&J's Chairman's Award for his volunteering contribution at the club.

Words can't really do Jack's legacy justice, but when you next visit the club, survey the clubhouse and pitches and reflect how important Jack was to our club

Rest in Peace Jack

Good morning every one We have just lost another member from our pen. It's Jack Morris. Played his first game way back in 1955 when he came with me to Kibworth as a reserve for the A xv, but played for Wellingborough R.F.C as they were a man short . He played on the wing for them. From then on he play all is games for Kibworth in different positions, until he became a prop and never looked back as he was selected to play every week. Jack soon made a name for himself as one of better props in the County. Not only was he was a a player, he was a Club man through and through, helping build the new changing rooms. From Fairfield Road when the Club moved to Harborough in 1956. When Club built the clubhouse in Gorse Lane in he put his hart and soul into it . In the 60s he became the 1st team Captain and in those day also the Club Captain. He kept that position for 10 years. Then moved up to be Club Chairman for a few years, then he served two spells as President , one under the Kibworth Banner and another under the Market Harboroùgh banner . You cannot name any project that Jack was not involved in . When he stop playing he took on the job of groundsman and was still at it until his end . So Jack go and buy yourself anew pair of BOOTS And have a good game on Saturday

Woke this morning to hear the very very sad news that my great friend and colleague Jack B Morris passed away earlier today.
Totally gutted by this sad news Jack was a friend for over fifty years during which time we went through many many life events.
He was one of the finest rugby players to have graced the local Leicestershire and East Midlands scene and a tremendous inspiration to many.
Kibworth/Market Harborough RFC have lost it's most loyal servant and many of us have lost one of the best mates we could ever have had.
So many stories, laughs, hard battles both on and off the field of play, memories enough to fill the biggest and best of books.
My condolences and Best Wishes go to his family at this saddest of times. God Bless and RIP Jacko, my dearest friend you will never be forgotten - David (Bonzo)

Sad news indeed. I never played with, or against Jack in his pomp, but the respect from his peers says everything about him both as a player and a team mate. Rest in Peace.

A wonderful bloke, could ruffle a few feathers when they needed ruffling. If you had the interests of the rugby club at heart you were part of Jack's extended family. Condolences to Bryn, Gareth and Sulwyn. We're all immensely grateful for Jack's contribution to rugby. We'll miss you Jack. RIP

Desperately sad to hear of the passing of Jack Morris. Rugby clubs the country over are built on legends like Jack. An ever present during my playing days and beyond. A truly good and selfless man who hundreds of us, young and old, owe a debt of gratitude. My thoughts are with his family. I'm sure some big hard men will have a tear in their eye today. RIP Jack
