Despite missing some key players Harborough Colts put in the performance of the season at home to league leaders, Vipers Colts, to move top of the Leicestershire League. Their power showed in the first scrum when they pushed Vipers back but were penalised as they failed to halt the drive. This led to a period of territorial advantage for Vipers but Harborough’s defence was solid.

It was the home side who looked more threatening in attack and following a number of drives the ball was fed to Fin Clarke who out-paced the Vipers defence to touch down near the posts adding the conversion for a 7-0 lead. A second try by Ciaran McMillan-O’Brian stretched their lead but they kept making basic errors to concede territory and a high penalty count for offside saw they forced back to their own line enabling Vipers to pull a score back.

The second half continued as the first but Harborough always looked the stronger with powerful runs by the forwards and the midfield backs which led to further tries from Joe Margetts and 2 for McMillan-O’Brian to complete his hat-trick. Harry Gilbert added a conversion. Vipers got a try back and penalty but Harborough ran out convincing winners 29-15
