A gloriously warm afternoon and several hundred spectators witnessed a fine afternoon of rugby football with teams from Stamford, Harborough and Oakham.
Harborough were the third game on and got off to a great start with a darting run and try from Joe Whitworth. Five minutes later after pressure in the scrum the visitors were awarded a penalty try.
The game was divided into four quarters to allow water breaks and at the first break Harborough led 12-5. At half time an Ed Sumpter try had extended Harborough's lead to 24-12.
There were fine displays from Charlie Foskett and Jack Brown in the pack.
Harborough backs were adventurous and the lack of kicking led to some Barbarian style rugby
In the second half every time Harborough looked like they might pull away Oakham reeled them back in with scores of their own. Slick work between Woodford and Blair saw Ed Sumpter scythe through the Oakham back line to touch down near the posts. Another super Sumpter surge saw Harborough home.
Club Chairman Phil Jarvis said 'I would like to thank the lads for a great effort this season and they can look forward to a well earned break over the summer'.
