Oadby Agony

This weeks performance was much more committed, but a slow start once again saw Harborough trying to play catch up rugby.
Early errors in defence let Oadby in for three quick tries, but in fairness the home sides forwards were well drilled and provided a plentiful supply of ball. The Oadby 10 was running the show pulling runners in from all over the park. Harborough found themselves 20 points down, before Lee Butler and Aaron Lyle tore into the Oadby defence and Andrew Jarvis crashed through to score under the posts. Henry Davies converted.

Oadby once again controlled possesion and territory and now led 31-7 and spun the ball wide to take advantage of a two man overlap. The ever alert Jarvis intercepted the ball on the 22m and ran three quarters of the pitch to touch down. HT 31-12

Harborough started the second half with more passion and commitment, but were always up against a powerful and pacey Oadby team who were constantly moving the ball through some well worked phases. Jack Digby made a number of powerful runs and was ably supported by Ryan Gibson, Chris Merlane and Henry Moss. Sam Hall and Aaron Lyle continued to crash the ball up the middle of the park, but a well marshalled Oaby defence contained the visitors.

Andrew Jarvis popped up with a second interception and ran in from 20 metres to score his third try. Jarvis dropped kick the conversion.
As Harborough tired Oadby fast running full back set up two late tries for the home team.

Its been a tough start to the season, but todays display should give the lads great heart as they showed true determination in adversity.
