Harborough Colts returned to winning ways in a friendly at Rushden, showing their class to run in 5 tries for a 29-5 victory. Playing on a heavy pitch against a big pack, Harborough were at times guilty of keeping the ball tight when they looked more dangerous when spreading the ball wide.
The visitors opened the scoring with a well taken try by Harvey Slade, converted by Fraser Harrop and added 3 more tries before the break through Timmy Waterfield, George Thornton and Alex Tilley with one converted by Harrop. Harborough lead 24-0 at the break.
With a number of substitutions in the second half disrupting Harborough's rhythm. Rushden began to get back into the game but the Harborough defence held firm. They were however guilty of conceding too many penalties at the breakdown and from one a clever crosskick, Rushden touched down for a try.
This seemed to galvanise Harborough back into dominance and they mounted numerous attacks before Slade went over for his second try. The conversion was missed but the 29-5 final score was well deserved.
