The Colts took on Northampton Casuals at home fielding a decent sized squad that was heavy on forwards but light on backs, right from the whistle Harborough were on top, creating pressure and driving the opposition backwards. A penalty gave rise to a lineout on the 5m and, after the initial drive had been repelled Matt Snutch crashed over from short range 5-0. Next came the team try of the game, Alex Hope finishing of a move after a series of quick passes on the blind side left the winger an easy score. 10-0. Absolute try of the game came soon after when Harrop returned a clearing kick and jinked down the line to score a fine solo try which he converted. 17-5. Harborough, in control started to get a bit sloppy, we didn't clear our lines and allowed Casuals some territory, our defence had no answer to a well worked catch and drive from a lineout. 17-5. Harborough came back Harrop again on the end of good play that saw the ball moved quickly from the tight to the wing. 22-5. Disappointing that a couple of tries were missed due to white line fever and not getting the final pass away.
Casuals started the 2nd half far better and saw plenty of territory and were dangerous in attacking set pieces, duly scoring a 2nd try, but they were beginning to tire and were down to 14 due to injuries. In the last 20 minutes Harborough exploited this and started to run in tries with abandon 2 to Roginski, 2 to Tye and 1 to Harry Wells, all converted by Harrop. Final score 57-10.
