Good run out for the squad

Harborough entertained Daventry on a bitterly cold and windy afternoon at their Northampton Road ground, conditions that were to challenge the handling abilities of both sides. Kicking off with the wind Harborough immediately put the black shirts of Daventry under pressure and were rewarded early on when Joe Price charged down a clearance kick which was picked up by Sam Noble and offloaded to Alex Wright who was able to dot the ball down. Fraser Harrop adding the extras; 7-0. Using the wind well and not allowing the visitors too much territory Harborough, in their white change strip, scored again though Jake Cartwright following good build up play by the forwards, Harrop converting 14-0. Best try of the first half was scored by Isaac Copson; picking up at the base of the scrum on the 22, he used the supporting Bryn Williams who in turn fed Mason Tye, Copson continued his run to finish of the move collecting a nice inside ball from the winger. Harrop, immaculate with the boot made it 21-0. Final score of the half was a penalty from Harrop’s boot. HT 24-0

Harborough started the second half on the back foot and only a superb try saving tackle from Will Pollard saved them from conceding. For 15 minutes the home team struggled to get a foothold against the wind which prevented expansive rugby but slowly they worked out that short passes, explosive runs would gain ground and momentum. Fin Quaid finished off a move that was all about the forwards working together popping passes out of contact, and support runners being in the right place. Harrop found kicking into the wind more difficult 29-0. Again forwards pressure on the right flank allowed the ball to be moved wide and Charlie Beard delayed his pass to allow Ollie Dawson a dive in at the corner. Final score 34-0
