ONs' early lead was too much to clawback

Harborough U15s Girls travelled to Old Northamptonians to play in a Friendly. It was the Visitors to score first with some good recycling, leading to Hannah West charging over the line from close range. ONs showed their strength in depth though with 3 well-taken tries. Harborough were very unlucky though not to score a 2nd try of their own when Lucia Norfolk showed great determination. Although she was tackled well short of the line, she kept driving and was only inches away, when she was pushed into touch. Half-Time 17-5.

The second half saw Harborough defending for long periods of play. Although the tackling was much better than in the first half, the pressure was too much and ONs scored a further 2 tries. However, all credit to Harborough, who never gave up and managed to get back on the front foot. Tireless work in the loose from Rosie Tremlett and good recycling of the ball lead to Mairead McErlean scoring her first for the club; a well-deserved score after a great performance playing in the Centres for the first time.

Some great defence in the dying moments of the game, particularly from Cassie Holyoak whose tackling display was impressive as ever, prevented an almost certain ONs try. Instead the ball was turned over and passed to Fran Brimm who showed excellent strength and pace to run from deep in her own half to score. A great finish from the Girls to reduce the deficit; final score of 27-15 was a respectable result at the end of the day.
