Colt goes all Barbarian

By Leila Nairne

It's not only the likes of former first team player Manu Vunipola who gets to play at Sarries

Ahead of Marlborough Colleges National Schools Cup Semi Final against Whitgift, Coach Terry Gilmour, asked the boys to go “Barbarian” style at the final practice on the 4G pitch at Allianz Park, home of Saracens. Dylan Murray, a current Colt player and in tribute to MRFC and Pinewood School, chose to wear a sock from each in tribute to all those, and in particular the MRFC coaches. Many thanks go to Adey, Nando, Adam, Ed and Graham, who have helped Dylan in his four short years of playing the game since his arrival from seven years of solid Baseball in California.

MRFC member Henry Adamson, was also in the side that suffered something of a reversal on the 4G pitch, but the College can be proud of having downed Dean Close (with three England Internationals) and Seaford, the dark horses of the competition on their way to the semis. However, Whitgift’s embarrassment of riches with one of the largest pool of boys to select from; three current England players (Elliott Daly, Danny Cipriani and Marlon Yarde) as alumni, with a raft of Premiership and Academy players proved tough opposition. With both Dylan and Henry being in LVIth the boys will have the chance next year to go one better and reach Twickenham. Well done Henry and Dylan from everyone at MRFC
