In our May letter, we committed to keep you regularly updated with what is happening over the Summer at your rugby club, so here is a brief rundown as we stand today:
The New Season: At the moment, there is no further news on when we might be able to restart the rugby season but yesterday Premiership Rugby announced that it hopes to resume the 2019-20 season on Saturday, 15 August and the community game will follow. Until rugby restarts, we are planning to hold free “boot camps” up on the Common on Saturday afternoons aimed at adults and training sessions for the Minis/Juniors on Sunday mornings. These sessions will be led by our Head Coach, Elisi Vunipola, and our Compeed Marlborough Sevens Head Coach, James Davies. We aim to start these as soon as we receive supporting Government and RFU advice.
Invitational Rugby 7s: In case you were unaware of our new member of the family: the Compeed Marlborough Nomads are an invitational rugby 7s brand formed in 2019 entering 7-a-side tournaments nationally and Internationally. For those who are missing their regular rugby fix, check out the following: Compeed Marlborough Nomads 7s highlights
Facility improvements continue: Following a recent grant from Sport England, we are pressing ahead with improving and extending the club’s facilities for all members to enjoy when our sport restarts. We have just completed “Verti-draining”, re-seeding and fertilising our two pitches. We have also started converting the attic into two more changing rooms with showers which will allow us to progress our plans for female rugby at Marlborough rugby club.
We would like to say a big thank you to our sponsors who all continue to support the Club through these difficult times.
More information is posted on our website. We will continue to provide you with further, regular updates over the coming weeks. If you have any feedback please contact Gary Sharp via email@example.com.
The Club team wish you all the very best and hope that you keep safe and well.
