Marshalls FC is one big family. We are an ‘FA Charter Standard Community Club.’ This status allows us to advocate that we are well organised, provide a safe environment and offer opportunities for all. Child welfare is at the top of our priorities and we have a FA qualified coach with every team.

Our Values

Friendly. Fun. Fair. These are the three words that, following a survey, our members used to describe the club. We want our club to become a place where people remain throughout their development. We want football to become a lifelong venture, whether that is through playing, coaching, refereeing or volunteering.

How We Play

We want our players to have a well-rounded football education. For this reason, we don’t pigeonhole our players at a young age or stick to regimented formations. On match day we want to be the most sporting team, dominate the ball and play creative football as a priority. Winning the game, although important to strive for, is a secondary aim. We do not want to win at the expense of our core valves.

All players get equal opportunities throughout the season and each player is provided with care and patience in order to grow into the best possible person both on and off the field.

The Marshalls FC player

There are four core areas that our coaches work on in order to develop the ‘Marshalls FC player’.

Social - We want to develop leaders both on and off the pitch.
Psychological - We want to develop resilient, confident and assured decision makers.
Technical - We want to develop intelligent and creative game players.
Physical - We want to develop players who are athletic, who have a strong physical platform to play football and any other sport they wish to pursue.

How We Coach

We expect our coaches to create an environment that develops the Marshalls FC player. This means putting the player's needs before our own, sometimes making short-term sacrifices for the investment of player opportunity in the longer term.

We use games over drills and you won't see lines, laps or lectures. We deliver our coaching in a way that provides choice, and ownership and allows for problem-solving. We aim to develop thinking players which won’t happen if we regularly make decisions for the players. Because of this, our practices will often look chaotic and messy.

How We Support

We ask parents to be involved in supporting the club on and off the pitch. Whether that is putting out goals, helping with matchday admin or conducting player analysis. We ask that however tempting, parents do not intervene during games by regularly shouting instructions. The players are still learning the game and any instructions from the touchline may contradict what the coach has said. More importantly, it doesn’t allow for the players to think about the multiple situations at hand.

We want all our players to have support. Young people thrive off encouragement and being praised not only for winning but more importantly for their efforts. At Marshalls FC we want to focus on the long-term, holistic interests of every player and we ask for your support in achieving this.
