Constitution


1. Name
The club shall be called Marton Furness Hockey Club, hereinafter called ‘the club’ and the club shall be a section of Marton Cricket Club, and subject to its general rules. The club shall be affiliated to the Durham County Hockey Association.

2. Colours
The club colours shall be decided by the General Committee of the Hockey Club.

3. Objectives
The club objectives shall be to provide Hockey for its members and such social and recreative pursuits as may be deemed desirable by the general committee, for the furtherance of the game of Hockey in its promotion and playing.

4. Committee
There shall be a General Committee and this will comprise the following:
Hon. Chairman, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer, Fixture Secretary plus the team captains and vice captains.

The General Committee shall be elected each year at the Annual General Meeting of the Hockey Club, and at its first or any subsequent meeting, may co-opt any member of the Hockey Club, should the majority of the General Committee members so desire.

The Hockey Club shall be controlled by the general committee consisting of its elected officers. The general committee shall meet once per calendar month, and the proceedings shall be duly recorded in written minutes format.

5. Powers of Committee
The property and/or assets of the Hockey Club shall be vested in the general committee, the general committee shall have the power to appoint sub-committees as may from time to time be deemed necessary and shall receive reports of such meetings.

Selection of the teams shall be the responsibility of the respective team managers and coaches.

The general committee shall appoint a discipline committee who will act on all matters relating to discipline in line with the clubs Discipline code

6. Annual General Meeting
The Hon. Secretary shall call an annual general meeting of the hockey club giving a minimum of 21 days notice. The AGM must be held after the final league match of the Hockey Season and before 14th June in each year.
The AGM shall be called for the following purposes:
1.To receive and adopt reports from the Hon. Chairman, Hon. Secretary and the statement of accounts from the Hon. Treasurer.
2.To receive the end of season reports of the team captains
3.To elect the officers of the general committee.
4.To present the various club awards that may be in force at the time.
5.To discuss any other related matters, which a member of the Hockey club may raise under any other business. This must be given in writing to the Hon. Secretary at least 7 clear days before the AGM.

7. Qualification for Voting
The elections will be carried out by a vote taking place for each office. Any official member of the Hockey club shall be entitled to vote. In the event of a tie, the Hon. Chairman shall have a casting vote.

8. Extra Ordinary General Meetings
An EGM may be called at any time by a majority of the General Committee or by written request to the Hon. Secretary from any five members of the Hockey Club, who shall state the purpose for which the meeting is required at that time. Voting rights at any EGM shall be the same as that of an AGM.

9. Finance
The general committee shall cause to be kept a proper record of account which shall be verified by a person or persons independent to the general committee on an annual basis.

10. Membership
Membership of the Hockey Club shall comprise of the following:

1.Schoolboy – Under 16
2.Student – Any member in full time education.
3.Senior – Any other member

11. Change of Rules
No new constitutional club rule shall be made or existing club rules altered or amended unless at the AGM or EGM the majority of the membership agrees.

12. General

Any official member of the Hockey Club may call for sight of these rules from any member of the general committee and any member of the hockey club shall be entitled to attend and vote at any AGM of the Hockey Club

In the unlikely event that the hockey section ceases to be a section of Marton Cricket Club, the building, assets and all property of Marton Furness Hockey Club shall revert to the sole ownership of the Hockey Section.

All matters not governed by the foregoing rules shall be dealt with by the general committee, the decision of which body shall be final and binding.

13. Code of conduct.
Every Club member, whether player, coach, parent, guardian, carer, official or spectator is expected to observe the code of conduct of the Hockey Club and also follow the code of discipline for Hockey in England. Any breach of this code will be dealt with by the disciplinary committee in line with the clubs discipline code.
