We have been notified today by the parents of one of our junior players that their child has had a positive Covid Test.

This person participated in touch rugby games at the rugby club last Sunday morning (Oct 11th.)
With regards to the playing activities, the RFU guidance is as follows;
In the case where a player tests positive, providing all rugby activities that the player participated in were within RFU ‘Return to Community Rugby’ and Stage D guidelines, then there is no requirement for other players to self-isolate.
This is because the activity took place outside, and hand and equipment sanitising occurred.

By way of a reminder, the current guidelines mean you are expected to do the following;
• Stay away if you have any COVID symptoms
• Stay socially distanced from others when you are not taking part in on pitch activity
• Sanitise your hands every 15 minutes
• At every break, the ball should be sanitised and there should be no sharing of other equipment without it being sanitised in between uses
• In Touch, Ready 4 Rugby games the only contact is below the waist
• Very limited contact training is allowed for a 15-minute duration during a session, with restricted numbers that coaches will apply
• Players and coaches must stay within their set bubble for the day of up to a maximum of 20 and may not join any other bubble that day
• Coaches must keep a register of players attending each Sunday session and any training sessions mid-week.

With regards to any off-pitch activity, the general Government guidance must be followed.
Given the measures we have taken at the club to make this COVID secure, there is a low risk of transmission between different groups who are outside enjoying a drink.

However can we please remind you that the current requirements are as follows;
• You must check in by scanning the QR code on display in the club
• You should keep socially distanced whilst at the club and when queueing
• You must follow the one-way system
• You should not gather in a group of more than 6 persons when outside
• Your group should maintain social distancing amongst yourselves and from others
• You should not join another group at any point that day

As a club we would recommend that if you were at the club last Sunday you should monitor yourself and others in your household for COVID symptoms.
If you do develop any symptoms, or are in any doubt, you should follow the NHS and Government guidance on what to do: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

We would assure you that Matlock Rugby Club will follow the most up to date guidance from both the RFU and Public Health England, whilst doing all it can to keep you and your families safe.
