The club's 1st mental health awareness day was a resounding success

Mental health may feel like a current 'buzz word', but the club recognises it's just as important to help our players with their mental as well as physical health.

This is why Karen Carr (year 7 coach) organised for the club a mental health awareness day, on sat 28th Sept. Headlining the day, was the expert speaker, Becky Reed, England Nets player and Mental Health Expert.

In the morning the Youth Squad enjoyed a taster of yoga and meditation, before listening to Becky talk about her own journey highlighting how she personally is overcoming her own mental health battles.

After the Youth Squad returned 'refreshed', the younger years and their parents also got to listen to Becky and try their hand at Yoga and meditation.

This is what some of the parents had to say about their session:
"The adult yoga was fab - loved it and feel great now"
"I feel ready to tackle the day ahead now"
"Becky was an inspiration, and the yoga was amazing"
"Great for the girls to have some tips. I'm feeling all zen and present"

In the afternoon, Becky ran a session just for coaches, where local coaches joined the club's coaches to understand how they could help support the mental health of their players. Including how to spot signs of mental illness and how to offer help.
