Medway Dragons Wheelchair RL travelled to Leeds to kick off the 2013 season against the Rhinos Team. RL Legend Keith Senior was a fascinated spectator

Medway Dragons Wheelchair Rugby League Team launched a massive year for our game in Medway with the first Road Trip, away at Leeds Rhinos. The team bus was fully loaded with chairs, players and the necessary levels of energy to get the group through a long day of travel and play.

Both teams were rusty early on and it showed as the ball did not stick and wayward speculator passes found everything but the hand. The Dragons had four players on debut , Ben Richardson, Tom Farwell, Matt Keam and Shaun Orton who were looking for a lead from established players Joe Coyd and Adam Barnett.

The game swung from end to end as both teams showed lots of determination and vigour in the early stages. The Dragons pulled away and opened up a lead at the beginning of the second half only to be pegged back Leeds who were beginning to gel as a team.

The match finished at 38-38 as the hooter went to signal the end of the game. The watching international Rugby League legend Keith Senior was hugely impressed at the game itself and the fact that men from Kent play and travel to Yorkshire to take up the challenge.
