Fulfordgate won the toss and elected to bat on this warm humid afternoon following overnight thunderstorms. This was probably a decision they were quickly regretting as wickets fell in rapid succession and after 9 overs they were 15-6. Of the 10 man team only Fulfordgate captain made double figures with 21. Si Houlder and Harry Collins desomated the Fulfordgate team thanks to catches by Matt Beevers, James Coupland, Robin Miller, Paul walker, Oliver Steels and 2 for Harry Collins plus a clean bowled and a lbw for Collins to return figures of 12-4-17-4 for Collins and 11.1-2-29-5 for Houlder and wrap up the Fulfordgate innings in 23.1 overs.
In reply after electing to have tea at the end of the game Melbourne lost the early wicket of Liam Barlow [11] when he was bowled by J Nelson in the 2nd over and then that of Tim Blackmore [9] who was bowled by D Baldock in the 5th over but Ben Thompson was in fine form and the required runs were reached in just 6.5 overs with Thompson finishing on 24* to bring Melbourne an 8 wicket win.
