In this local derby Melbourne lost the early wicket of Oliver Steels but an 11 over partnership between Tim Blackmore and Freddie Collins added a repectable 63 to the board before Blackmore was caught off the bowling of D Edwards. Liam Barlow hit a quick 20 before falling to a lbw off the bowling of Martin Pearson. Freddie Collins after making a great 69 which included 7 boundaries was finally caught off the bowling of Pearson in the 19th over. Dave Coe hit a quick fire 8 before being stumped. Melbourne finished on a good 134-7.

In reply Yapham lost the early wicket of Nick Edwards who was caught by Liam Barlow off the bowling of Brian Underwood. Martin Pearson [11] was caught by Dave Coe again off the bowling of Underwood in the 5th over and Will Axup was bowled by Underwood in the 7th over to put Yapham on 27-3 and figures of 3 for 16 for Underwood. Underwood was back in action again when he caught Jon Flint [11] off the bowling of Dave Coe in the 11th over and J Bird in the 13th over this time off the bowling of Si Houlder. Dave Coe took a second wicket when he bowled Jack Holman [21] in the 13th over to return figures of 2 for 12. With Jason Nattrass and Sam Noble at the crease the two added a further 35 to the board but fell short of the required total - Nattrass finishing on 22* and Noble on 8*.
