Well done to the small travelling squad decimated with injuries, illness and the half term holidays

23.10.16
Mellish V Long Eaton

1st Half
Mellish start the game by kicking off to Long Eaton. The pack chase the kick hard and soon Mellish find themselves with both possession and territory. This is then turned into an early try as our big prop, Joseph, crashes through the defence and over the try line. The second try comes courtesy of our talisman, Oli, by picking up the ball at the break down, then running through the middle. The writing was on the wall early as to how the rest of the game was likely to unfold from this point on. An utterly dominant Mellish team sees them add another 5 tries (3 more from Oli and 2 from our big centre, Tyrece) 3 successfully converted by Jack, before the half comes to a close.

2nd Half
At half time, the Mellish coaches swapped a couple of players with Long Eaton (Oli & Joseph, the try scorers) to try and shift the balance of the dominance a little bit and so that Mellish could learn a bit more from the game. This worked as Mellish only scored 2 more tries (Jools & TJ) and 2 more successful conversions. Mellish did however, manage to keep a clean sheet and not let any tries in. The final whistle then draws the game to an end a friendly game against a good natured Long Eaton side.

Match report Alex Chinyemba.

Managers thoughts. A good performance by both sides in a game played in very good spirit. Well done to Jools scoring a great try barging through the Long Eaton defence. Great move from the backs to score the try of the season so far finished off by Tyrece. Hard work on Wednesday night does pay off. Thanks to Long Eaton for some after match fun with the man of the match forfeit.

Man of the match. Tyler-Jay Chinyemba. Another all action display at full back and in the centres. Never missed a tackle and always strong when running with the ball in hand.
