Mellish welcomed a touring team from North Wales, Rithun, to their ground.
After Team photos' and an exchange of Trophies, the teams kicked off in bright sunshine.
The first 5 minutes was contained between between both 22 metre lines, where both sides were testing their opposite numbers..a close battle maybe... maybe not!
The expanding game of rugby played by Rithun put the Mellish fitness to the test; unfortunately, a hot sunny day proved a big advantage to the away team.
A couple of miss timed tackles at crucial areas of the pitch saw the away team steadily put numbers on the board; by HT Rithun were leading 22-0.
On a day were the number of home team missed tackles grew as the game wore on , there was only going to one outcome; a good hiding!
It wasn't all one way traffic though; there were at least 4 occassions where a lack of support for the ball carrier saw good attacking moves held up short of the try line.
The second half played similar to the first, with Rithun exposing the "shadow runs" of our forwards, to run in 4 more tries. converting 3.
One particular move where we did provide support for the ball carrier saw Adam finish off a well worked drive; converted.
Stand out players were lewis for his consistent tackling and Shaquille for his energy to break the gain line time and again...if only he had the support!!
The game finished 48 - 7 with Rithun's higher fitness levels and solid game plan easing them to victory.
Rithun made the SHAQ Mellish's man of the match.
A game played in a good spirit; well done both teams.
