Now time for a well earned rest!!!

After last weeks defeat it was good for the boys to get back in the saddle and storm to victory in what must be described as an excellent TEAM effort.

With a depleted squad due to the Easter holidays'(9 boys missing, it was comforting as a club to know that we could still field 17 boys)....however for 3 to pull out 2 hours before kick off we thought we would be in trouble? How wrong could I be!

Chesterfield kindly gave us our 15th man + another as a sub; THANKS!!
Both Max (who played wing first half) and then Alex, who came on the wing for the second half to allow Max to switch to Number 8, after Usman had to leave with a pulled hamstring, played with a vengeance.
I wouldn't be surprised if they got into Chesterfield's first 15 after todays' display?

No man of the match to day as EVERY boy played his part in a good team performance so we have named them ALL below as Men of the Match; WELL DONE guys.

Elliot
Johnathon
Jack
Luke
Ryan Smith
Lewis
William
Usman
Tom
the SHAQ
Charlie
Shaun
Ryan Hudson
Daniel

The game plan was to avoid the hard surfaces by recycling the ball at every opportunity.
With Shaq more involved at Number 10, the game plan reversed last weeks scenario, in that we used the running lines and physical strength of Charlie, Shaun, Shaquille, Jack, Lewis and Johnathon, to out muscle and gain the advantage at every opportunity.

Collectively, the boys were moving the ball around, offloading before getting into a Ruck, allowing the pace of our Back line to score time and again.

Wiliam had a few opportunities to score (one was prevented after a high tackle only 2 metres away from the try line; unlucky Will.

Lewis scored a typical brave Flankers' try under the posts; a fitting way for him to end the season.

The forward 5 of Elliot, Jack, John, Luke and Ryan Smith made numerous runs into the opposition half, where they broke the gain line on the majority of occasions today; Well done all 5.

Usman although struggling with a tight hamstring managed to play for the first half; Thanks Ussie!

The Shaq's pace tore up the script today and his excellent and exciting running saw him run in 2 fantastic efforts; even the opposition parents were impressed with his pace.

Shaun had a solid game and was back to his best scoring a try in each half.

Charlie bagged 3 himself, one marauding effort saw him pick the ball up from 10 metres near his own try line, and race the length of the field bulldozing 4 of the opposition on his travels...

Ryan Hudson continues to grow as a new rugby player and his natural ability to hand off and accelerate is very impressive.

Tom played an intelligent game at Scrum Half and is/will develop into a good Number 9.

Daniel converted 7 of our 8 tries today with majestic kicking.

The communication was better, passing the ball down the line was new ground in some respects but the tackling was a major improvement on last week.

A very good performance bearing in mind the need to move players around in unfamiliar positions.

Final Score Chesterfield 7 - 54 Mellish
