Mellor U11 girls just keep getting better

Mellor started as they meant to go on, scoring their first goal inside the first minute of the game. Katie and Jasmine lead the charge and by the end of the first quarter Mellor were 4-0 up. But Cheadle were no push over and though Mellor held the lead, Cheadle fought back in the second quarter to make it 6-2 and then 9-4 by the end of the third. The Cheadle goalie was a force to be reckoned with denying Mellor 9 goals throughout the match, but Mellor kept the pressure on scoring 6 goals in the final quarter to win 15-5. Jasmine, Katie and Lola (in goal) were awesome, but it was also great to see our younger girls building in confidence, fighting for ground balls, chasing down the opposition and attempting checks (well done Edith, Harriet T, and Marleigh). Elise and Erin demonstrated their developing understanding of match play by their great positioning and once again Evie's finishing hit the mark scoring twice. But a special well done this week to Zoe and Harriet O playing their U11 debuts - it's great to have you on the team.
