U14s back to winning ways!

Today was about getting the basics right, which we did very well. With holidays, cancellations and games against arguably the toughest 2 opponents, it had been 6 weeks since we last played and won and so the victory and perfomrance today was very welcome.

As for much of the season we went into the game with no subs and so using the ball wisely was going to be key, especially on a pitch that was heavy underfoot. The performance today by the whole team was of a high standard - defensively we stood up well to what Poynton had to offer and when called into action Will showed his quality to concede just 1 goal - a great effort by all the defence.

In attack the quality of goals continues to be of the highest standard with some great passing moves. The fact that all of the 5 regular U14s got on the scoresheet was the most pleasing aspect as it shows, what we already know, that this attack doesn't rely on 1 or 2 players but all of the players contribute equally whether it is through assists, scoring or just running themselves into the ground. Another welcome aspect is that when our u12s play up they slot in well to our formation as Oli did today.

A few things to work on this week before our cup game but as a work out ahead of that match this was very satisfying and all concerned should be pleased with their performance this week.

Goals: Ben T (4), Drew, Sam, Eddie and Tom all 2 each.
Assists: Who knows?! The regular match reporter was away and his stand in didnt take note!
Saves - 5+ !!

No man of the match as this was about the team playing to a system and all doing their jobs equally well.
