U14s snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat

Out of sorts and against a depleted Cheadle team but struggle to capitalise
Back at Mellor to face Cheadle / Sheffield (CS) for the first time since our 14-4 defeat at their ground at the beginning of January.
The game started fairly evenly with both teams struggling to get a goal. The first goal did come after 10 minutes when CS beat Ned and broke the deadlock. A couple more quickly followed for CS to put them 3 nil up but with some great movement, Ollie managed to pull one back for Mellor just before the quarter ended.
The second quarter started in much the same way and CS scored twice in quick succession leaving us trailing 5- 1. It wasn’t looking too good for Mellor, who sensing defeat started to pick up the pace. With just a minute of the quarter to play Josh made a long pass to George who buried it in the CS net. The clock was running down but with just one second of the quarter to go Ollie passed to Josh who found the net to make it 5-3 to CS
The third quarter saw Jamie make a great play assisted to George who scored his second. Another goal quickly followed this time by Jack Royal assisted by George, who had a great scoring opportunity, but was generous in his passing instead. That brought us level with no goals for Cheadle in the third quarter.
The 4th quarter started badly with two quick goals from CS’s number 32. With Cheadle back in a two goal lead, Mellor had work to do, but dug in to find that Mellor spirit. A great assist by George with a fast pass through the CS defence found Jamie who didn’t waste the opportunity to bury it!
Ollie Plant then scored his second and it was all Mellor right up until the final whistle.
Both teams really wanted to win this one and it resulted in a good entertaining game to watch with plenty of action.
A fair score line at the end
