Cup Qualifiers start for the u14s

Mellor hosted Norbury for our first cup game of the season. An important game for us which would extend our winning run.
Will opened the score line with a long run, which he finished with a cracking shot leaving the Norbury team stunned by his pace. George followed up with another solo effort and Josh made it 3. A great start for the home team.
Norbury struck back with their dangerous looking number 54. Another brake from Will and a great pass to Josh resulted in yet another goal for Mellor who looked like they were in control of the game at this point.
A good first quarter which ended Mellor 5 - Norbury 1
Some good goalkeeping by Fredrick along with a strong looking Mellor defending was helping to frustrate the away team. Jack Royal scored a good goal following a clever assist by George. Norbury respond by scoring one themselves before Jack L shows what he is capable of and following some nifty footwork banged the ball into the top corner of the Norbury net.
Mellor 9 – Poynton 3 at the end of the second quarter.
The 3rd quarter was fairly scrappy with both teams fighting hard and the referee stepping in a number of times to establish some discipline as frustration levels on both sided started to rise. No goals for Mellor and only one for Norbury in this quarter.
The final quarter similar to the third with only one goal for Mellor. An entertaining, passionate game as always when we play this tough opposition and a great start to Mellor’s cup run.
