Under 14s off the mark against Sheffield....

Good start to the season for the u14s with a great debut from Ben, playing the first lacrosse game of his life !

We were always in control against an enthusiastic but limited Sheffield team and used the game as an opportunity to switch players around and give everyone plenty of game time. We struggled a bit on discipline as Sheffield’s panel ref was fairly strict on the interpretation of lax laws - with us having three in the bin at one point, unheard of in junior lax - but were much better in the second half when it was Sheffield’s turn to lose players to the whistle. A good lesson for the team in the laws of the game though and keeping self control, even though it was by no means a particularly physical game.

Plenty of Mellor players on the scoresheet which was nice to see and our midfield of Miles, Charlie and Cam, when playing together, look like they could take on any team. Long poles of Ollie, Henry and Jacob at the back were formidable and we only conceded when we had two in the bin.

Tougher games to come but a decent start to the season.
