Game Summary
With the Sun rising and slowly burning off the early morning fog that had engulfed the Mellor uplands, turning the air into a cool mist; the scene was set for the Mellor Under 18 Girls fixture against Brooklands.
Although suffering defeat by a three goal margin; this was a much improved performance by the Mellor girls against a very well drilled and skillful Brooklands team.
The game started with Brooklands scoring on there first sorte into the Mellor goal area but was quickly levelled by Jess with an assist by Charlotte. Mellor fell off the pace somewhat after this, getting stronger towards the end of the period with a half time score of 6 to 4 in favour of Brooklands.
The game in the second half mirrored that of the first; starting slowly, letting in 4 goals without reply and then getting stronger towards the end of the game. The 2nd half finishing 6 to 5 in favour of Brooklands.
Overall the girls played really well in periods. Notable mentions to Jess (Man of the Match) for her all round performance with a tally of 4 Goals, 4 Turnovers and 1 Assist; Charlotte 1 Goal, 1 Assist, 3 Turnovers; Honor 2 Goals, 1 Turnover; Emily B 1 Goal, 1 Assist; Holly 1 Goal, 1 Turnover; Alex great marshalling of defence 5 Turnovers, Katie W (Keeper) 5 Saves
Again well done to Amber playing really well as she gets to know her new team, Mary, Emily N 1 Turnover for one so young.

Matt and Christie the Coaches will be working on a few areas for improvement inclusive of passing, attacking moves and tightening up on defence at training. So please make the effort to attend.

Our Manager Sarah assures me that the first win is not far away.
