Blues move top of the league with an emphatic 3-0 win over play-off hopefuls Weston...

The Weston bench stood appalled after Sonny Cox saw his early effort ruled out by the linesman for offside after being played through to poke the ball past Beach.

A mistake at the back from the seagulls saw them throw away a clean sheet on the half time mark after Mather capitalised on a poor back header that was swiftly cut out into the path of Knight who fired into the top corner.

Liam Beach was brought into action to defend his teams lead after his punch dropped the ball to Sam Avery whose venomous strike required a parried save by the Blues keeper.

Following some good fluid football between Charlie Wickham and Sam De St Croix the blues wideman was able to beat his opponent to set Liam Ferdinand who comfortably volleyed past Max Harris.

The home side responded in quickly to doubling their lead after an Ollie Knight free kick connected well with the powering head of Bernard Tanner to plant the ball past a helpless Max Harris in the Weston net.

The seagulls continued their struggles to break a dominant Met defence after Scott Laird forced Liam Beach into a low save that opened up a rebound that was narrowly missed.

The Blues frustrated their Somerset opponents after keeping possession of the ball as they closed in on all 3 points.
