Review and preview

Gav Macpherson -First XI manager was interviewed about the Kings Langley game and the game ahead on Saturday against Basingstoke

On the result -I’m happy with the result after admitting with their manager that due to weather its going to be a tough game of football. I think what we saw was role reversal in each half due to the the wind. We were on the ascendency in the first half due to the wind, 1-0 up could of been two. We basically knew coming out in the second half it was going to be a role reversal again due to the wind but we were resolute and resilient and we did the job and we got through. We played the conditions and played the opposition and we got a good result

On kings Langley style of play - they certainly played a different type of game from what they played two weeks ago . I was impressed with them as a side and it was a proper game of football . The conditions Saturday may have dictated how they played on Saturday. We played our normal game and as I’ve said the weather conditions played a part in that but there was certainly a different approach form them in the way they played maybe it was how they earn a result at Salisbury but I’m more concerned about what we do and how we go about things and we did as well as we could of on the day and we got the positive result and we put the game to bed and move on .

On the Basingstoke game - Tough game a tough place to go , they have a very good home record. I haven’t been there in a few years but its a big expansive pitch , they have some very useful players and I am very surprised that they are that end of the table. When we played them early season when I knew Jason Bristow was in charge they gave us a proper good game. A thriller with a 4-4 result and this is going to be a really really tough game . If we have learnt any lessons from previous games like Tiverton ,who were sitting in a very similar position to Basingstoke ,is that it will be difficult against teams that are trying to avoid relegation who will fight and scrap to the end. Looking at their team and the players they have got I don’t think it will be a scrap from their point of view. They are very capable of playing very decent football , very capable of hurting you with their dangerous players and we are certainly going to have to be on our best on Saturday .
