Plus a few words about our dedicated chairman

I think it’s very difficult to be happy in defeat. We started well enough but found it difficult to break down what was a decent defence. I think the game changed with their first goal. It’s a fantastic strike that gave Charlie no chance. The key then was to keep it tight, I felt if we re-programmed and kept our composure things would settle down for us. To concede a second in that manner was tough to see. It’s another good finish but perfectly preventable from our point of view. I thought Truro were as good as anything we faced last season so they will be there or there abouts.
We are a new team, last season was last season and we must bank good memories and realise there is hard work ahead. To lose 7 of that team has been tough but it’s football, we must focus on who and where we are. We’ll all work hard to get up to speed and learn from games like Truro.
We now travel to a Hendon side who nearly pulled off one of the results of the opening day. It’s another tough one but I think the league dictates that these games will just keep coming. We’ll be going all out for a positive result and points on the board.
I can’t sign off without paying tribute to our chairman Des Flanders. An exceptional man who is committed to doing the right thing for our football club. It was a pleasure to see the main Imber Court stand named after him, he is both supportive to me and everyone connected with the club. A fitting recognition of 25 years service.
