A fixture postponed from New Years Day produced a game of high tension for both clubs in their battle to move away from the relegation zone.
After an even opening quarter of an hour the first half was entirely dominated by the Met. After Galloway and Degand had near misses Met went ahead on 25 minutes. A free kick by Goalkeeper Liam Beach hoisted the ball deep into the South Park penalty area which was headed back across the goal from beyond the far post for Sid Gbla to finish from close range. Within 5 minutes Met doubled their lead when Mason Galloway converted a penalty to give Met a 2-0 lead going in looking comfortable at half time.
The second half began with a double substitution by South Park who were clearly determined not to go down without a fight. Met might have sealed the game within a minute of the restart but Park keeper Danny Bracken came out best in a one on one situation with Gbla and thereafter it was domination by the visitors. They got themselves back into the game on 53 minutes through substitute Bobby Mills. A fine save by Beach pushed the ball back into play giving Mills his chance when the ball was played back into the danger zone. From that moment it was backs to the wall for the Met as the visitors pressed for an equaliser. In a frenetic 5 minute spell South Park did all but score as Beach, the woodwork and two goal line clearances prevented any further score.
The result saw Met move above their opponents in the League and two places above the relation zone.
