Megs Day!

Megs Day!

Lucas Flanders20 Jan - 21:44

Blues suffer back to back defeats while off the pitch there was huge success and celebration…

Met physio Megan Partington was made very welcome by Binfield on Met’s visit to Hill Farm.

In a presentation made before the kick-off Megan received a floral bouquet to mark her contribution in reviving Binfield player Tyler D’Cruz after he had become unconscious following an incident in the game between the two clubs at Imber Court almost a year ago to the day. As the drama unfolded on the pitch it became necesssary for Megan to deploy a defibrillator to recover Tyler back to breathing following a desperate few minutes and prior to the arrival of paramedics who finally stabilised Tyler.

Happily Tyler made a full recovery, is back playing football and featured against the Met in todays game.

BINFIELD FC 1 v MET POLICE 0

In very cold conditions with a heavy pitch, albeit rolled to provide a flat surface Binfield began with great endeavour and determination. Only a sharp save from Beach prevented Met going behind within 6 minutes. But Met weathered the storm and on 25 minutes looked as if they had sneaked a lead only for Jamal Sharpe’s effort to be ruled offside. On 35 minutes Tyler D’Cruz was red carded for a second yellow card completing an eventful day for him. But somehow this spurred the home side who never looked in danger, going in 0-0 at half time.

Despite a bright start from Met to the second half it was not long before the Binfield ten men resumed forcing the pace and Met were fortunate to survive when only an imperious save from Beach kept out an effort from Smith-Jones. But within 10 minutes the game was decided when not for the first time long throw specialist Wayborn hurled a dipping throw into the Met box which was allowed to bounce giving Smith-Jones the chance to bundle it home at the far post. Multiple substitutions by Met followed but it was not until the last 5 minutes, with caution thrown to the wind, that Met threatened but a save to match the earlier one by Beach by home keeper Fubler ensured it was Binfield who kept the 3 points.
