Beaconsfield Town 0 v Met Police 1
With a pitch in near perfect condition, grass in the goal mouths, red kites soaring above and blue skies Gavin fielded a much changed team following the defeat by Poole two days earlier.
Met began slowly and had an early escape when Losasso burst through onto a long ball but control let him down with the Met goal gaping. It was clear from the start that the home side were intent on playing the long ball but as Met settled they began to have the better of the game. On 13 minutes Jack Mazzone was unlucky with an audacious chip from a tight angle which was headed off the goal line by a covering defender. Then on 20 minutes Ollie Robinson headed over from a corner. But not to be denied he was back again six minutes later to plant a firm header home from an Alex Fisher free kick to give Met the lead. On 28 minutes he crashed another header against the bar from a corner. In this period Met had played some lovely pass and move running football and had the home side on the rack.
No immediately after half time give always this time as Met continued to threaten with Jack Mazzone saying a chance on 46 minutes followed shortly by the home keeper making a marvellous instinctive save as a shot from John Gilbert cannoned off Luke Robertson for what looked like a certain goal. Then on 52 minutes another save, this time from Jack Mazzone. Then on 63 minutes a previously untroubled Bertie Schotterl was forced to make a block save at the feet of a Beaconfield forward following a swift breakaway. But Met looked confident as they saw out the game despite a wasted opportunity by Max Blackmore within moments of the final whistle.
