The evening had started so well with a bumper crowd of 207 one of which was talk sport commentator Tony Inchenzo.

Midhurst had to call their Friday night game off due to a serious injury which was sustained by new signing and returning for his second spell at the club Matt Mason.

The evening had started so well with a bumper crowd of 207 one of which was talk sport commentator Tony Inchenzo.

Midhurst began the game very well and dominated the early exchanges. Brazier on the wing was being a menace and causing problems with his skill and pace.

The deadlock was opened on 16 minutes. Brazier's tantalising run beat three EP players! His cross come shot ricochet in the box only to find Norgate 12 yards out. His left foot drive nestled into the net to come it 1 - 0.

The next stage of the game saw an equal period of play. Both teams looking to pass the ball well and break down either defence.

The turning point came on 27 minutes. A needless corner given away from Midhurst was headed home by East Preston's skipper.

Midhurst soon found themselves 4 - 1 down by conceding another 3 quick goals. What started off so well ended in a disastrous half.

The second half introduced Dormer and Mason. Dormer slotted in up top along side Norgate whilst Mason on his second game back slotted in at left back.

Early exchanges were Midhurst who had a lot of the ball but couldn't find a way through.

The night soon turned sour just before the hour mark. An EP break away, saw Patrick Cowell in the Midhurst goal bring down the on-rushing forward. The chasing defender, Matt Mason collided with the tumbling forward. In the tangle of limbs, Matt Mason suffered a double break to his left leg. The correct decision was made by the officials to abandon the game.

Matt underwent a successful operation at St Richards hospital on Sunday to insert a metal rod inside his bone. He is now at home recuperating, and starting on the long road to recovery.

With a fund raising game now in the planning for Wednesday 7th December at The Rotherfield. We hope to get a good crowd packed in and raise some funds for Matt and his young family at this important time of year
