The sending off seemed to unsettle Midhurst who seemed to feel the pressure of needing to score with the opposition a man down.

Bexhill 1 - 2 Midhurst

A dominant display saw Midhurst take three valuable points on the road.
Midhurst came into the away fixture at Bexhill with several forced changes from last weeks solid performance against Steyning knowing a victory was needed.
Bexhill is always a tough place to visit and Midhurst knew they'd be in for a battle and would need to match the hosts in this department and they didn't disappoint. Within the first ten minutes Keith Martin,George Morris and Lawrence Hyde set about dominating the midfield and fired in several crunching tackles, the latter getting the better of the Bexhill skipper who made way with minutes of the game played due to an unfortunate injury.
It was one way traffic for the half but the opening evaded Midhurst. Oli Lee down the left and Ben Kemplin on the right were a constant threat. It was Kemplin who almost opened the scoring on 25 minutes. Joel Stevens found Ben Kemplin on the half way line. The energetic midfielder bypassed five Bexhill players and fired a 30 yard shot which was heading for the top corner. Unfortunately the Bexhill stopper pulled off a fine save.
The first half remained frustrating throughout. Everything was there apart from goals. Gary Norgate, George Morris and Lawrence Hyde all had chances that were saved or cleared off the line.

The second half continued as the first finished. After 50 minutes Norgate was set free by Morris. Norgate was tripped 20 yards out and the Bexhill centre back was given his second yellow card and sent off.

The sending off seemed to unsettle Midhurst who seemed to feel the pressure of needing to score with the opposition a man down.

For the next 10 minutes the pendulum swung for the first time in the game. Bexhill found a foothold in the game and really went for the jugular! A lot of possession was met by a firm Midhurst back four of Nathan Hunt,Paul Grantham, George Hotson and Joel Stevens to keep the scoreline goalless. On 60 minutes the host did break the deadlock. A free kick floated into the Stags box wasn't dealt with and fell to the Bexhill forward to finish from 3 yards.

A sucker punch for Midhurst who then lost their way for the next few minutes. Bexhill had their spell and winning first and second balls and continued to dominate possession.

The tide turned again at 70 minutes. Lee began to grow into the second half and produced a perfect ball for Norgate, the forward poked his ball towards goal but an easy save followed, a weak clearance by Bexhill fell to Hyde who was lurking 18 yards out. A sweet right foot drive nestled perfectly in the top corner. A wonderful strike by Hyde.

The remainder of the game saw Midhurst push for a winner. Lee remained a constant threat down the left but was forced off due to a horrendous tackle which went unpunished. Alex Brazier came on and slotted in well as did Greg Chaplin who replaced the injured Hunt.

The winner came in the 85th minute. Morris tried to release Norgate with a raking cross field pass only to see it evade the sticker. The Bexhill right back tried to casually head back to the keeper but it fell far to short. Norgate pounced, took it wide of the Bexhill number one to cooly slot home.

There was a last minute fright for Midhurst which seems to be a standard thing in these situations. The Bexhill striker was set free on goal and one on one with Cowell in the 94th minute, it looked like another two point would be thrown away but for a last ditch tackle by the dominant Hotson. Midhurst held strong for the remainder of the seven minute injury time and secure all three points.
